Keeping your teens entertained can be challenging, even when they have a packed schedule with school. But now that school is out, these upcoming activities for teens at the Hattiesburg Library will do the trick!
What’s happening
The month of June has a few specific activities for teens at the Hattiesburg Library that hope to spark imagination, creativity, fun and connections. Check out what’s happening, starting with a very special grand opening!
Introducing the Teen Center
Drumroll, please! For the first time ever, the library will have a specific space dedicated to teens only. Make plans to celebrate the new Teen Center during the upcoming grand opening on Thursday, June 8th, from 4 to 6 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.
While you are there, you can check out the cool space made for teen gaming, clubs and more. There will be four state-of-the-art gaming PCs, plus two Nintendo Switch gaming systems for teens to use during designated gaming hours.
Get ‘Lit’ Glow Party
Calling all Hub City teens! It’s time to get “lit” at the Hattiesburg Library and kick off summer fun at the Get ‘Lit’ Glow Party! Join your peers ages 12 to 18 only for a fun day of dancing, glow sticks and more on Friday, June 9th, starting at 2 p.m.
Break out your brightest, most neon apparel and get ready to glow! Don’t forget your dancing shoes so you can show off your moves to the beats of the library’s own DJ Shhh Happens and DJ Read-N-Rainbow.
Teen Craft: Shrinky Dinks
This popular 1980s craft is back! Get creative on Friday, June 30th, at 2 p.m. during the Teen Craft: Shrinky Dinks event. Make your own designs or trace something special, color it and get ready to “shrink” it, leaving you with your own unique jewelry pieces or keychains. All materials will be provided.
Location
The “where” for these activities for teens at the Hattiesburg Library may vary. For instance, make your way to the main branch at 329 Hardy St. for the Teen Center grand opening and glow party the following night.
When it’s time to get crafty on June 30th, head to the Petal Library, located at 714 Main St. Did you know that’s only about a 15-minute drive from Point O’Woods Apartments? The Hardy Street library, on the other hand, is about a 10-minute drive away.
