Hattiesburg is one of the best places to travel in the U.S. for 2023

Word is out. Hattiesburg is one of the best places to travel in the U.S. for 2023. Our small southern town is full of good people, cool places and exciting events, but don’t just take our word for it.

What makes Hattiesburg special?

According to travel experts asked by Forbes, Hattiesburg is one of the best places to travel in the U.S. for 2023 for a couple of reasons in particular. Actually, it’s more like “places” than reasons, and we’re about to take a closer look at both of them.

The Hattiesburg Pocket Museum

First of all, there’s the notable Hattiesburg Pocket Museum. Known for its “sometimes cute, sometimes weird, but always interesting” exhibits, the museum also happens to be Mississippi’s smallest museum. In fact, it’s a 48-by-36-inch window in an alley.

The fun exhibits rotate regularly. Previous exhibits have included everything from a collection of Smurfs to McDonald’s memorabilia. While you are visiting the Hattiesburg Pocket Museum, be sure to appreciate the eye-popping alley art, take some selfies and check out the movie theater while you are there.

Take a sneak peek at the museum’s Facebook and Instagram. Visitors will often find a list of cool things to look for when they visit the Pocket Museum at 201 Forrest St.

The Lucky Rabbit

In addition to the littlest museum, Hattiesburg is one of the best places to travel in the U.S. for 2023 for thrifty reasons. Luckily, you can find a ton of them in one big spot, The Lucky Rabbit.

The Lucky Rabbit is a 15,000 square foot variety store that is open every Saturday and Sunday. In fact, the first Saturday of every month is known as “First Saturdays” from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  It’s an outdoor market with a kids’ bounce house, yummy food and cold beer.

Otherwise, the eclectic shop is open every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. They regularly restock vintage finds, furniture, local nostalgia, unique gifts, and more. Find them on Facebook and Instagram to see what they are all about.
