Coming Up: EaglePalooza 2019

EaglePalooza 2019

There’s not much else as Southern Miss as EaglePalooza! Featuring live music that will get you up on your feet, EaglePalooza has become a staple of student life at The University of Southern Mississippi—and it’s open to the community as well. EaglePalooza 2019, happening on Nov. 8,  is shaping up to be one for the ages!

What exactly is EaglePalooza?

EaglePalooza has graced the greater Hattiesburg area since its inception in 2004. Organized by the Southern Miss Student Government Association (SGA), EaglePalooza plays host to musical acts from across the country. Past artists who have performed on stage include The Weeks, B. o. B., and The Hot 8 Brass Band.

EaglePalooza 2019, like its predecessors, is a highlight of student life at the University of Southern Mississippi. It’s free for students of Southern Miss—as well residents of the greater Hattiesburg area. Past Paloozas have drawn crowds of more than 10,000 people, and each year the Southern Miss SGA partners with other student and community organizations to ensure the event’s success.

What’s the SGA and its role at Southern Miss?

The Southern Miss Student Government Association (SGA for short) serves multiple roles at the university. The Southern Miss SGA bills themselves as advocates for students, “the voice of students,” and a channel of communication between the university administration and Southern Miss students. The organization also encourages students to pursue academic success—and success in their future careers beyond Southern Miss.

The Student Government Association at Southern Miss also organizes several events and initiatives in and around campus, including EaglePalooza 2019. Other events include Homecoming, Miss USM, and The Big Event. It also works as a kind of hub for multiple student-led entities, such as varsity, freshman associates, and the senate.

What makes EaglePalooza 2019 special?

EaglePalooza 2019 will draw a number of top brass in the music industry. The current lineup includes bands such as Moon Taxi, The New Respects, and The Prom Knights.

Based in Nashville, Tennessee but originally from Vestavia Hills, Alabama, Moon Taxi is known for the band’s soul-driven, hard rock sound with a lighter twang.

The New Respects, hailing from Nashville, is a band renowned for its indie vibes and feel-good tunes.

Finally, The Prom Knights is a Hattiesburg-bred band which covers the best pop-punk songs of the ‘90s. And that’s just the start of what makes EaglePalooza 2019 the pumped-up, rockfest of the year!
